digital dilemma

Castle Campbell door knocker. It is with slight pangs of guilt that I upload my latest selection of photographs. Not because there is anything wrong with them, and not because I'm trying to deceive you in any way, but simply because the photos have been recorded digitally and not on film. Don't get me wrong, I love digital technology - its fast, the quality is great and you can experiment without worry, but you miss out on the excitement of waiting for your film to come back. It almost feels like cheating that you can see what you are doing as you do it.

But I'm giving in - or at least I did a while ago. I've used a digital SLR to photograph just about anything that isn't landscape for several years now, but up until this moment, none of it has gone on the site.

So I'm taking a balanced approach to my photography now. In addition to lugging a massive backpack of large format film gear (for the serious stuff) I also take my digital SLR everywhere so I can be somewhat more spontaneous.  Its a liberating experience (apart from keeling over with the weight)

Film versus digital is a very hotly debated subject among the die-hard photographic community, but as with everything you should use the best tool for the job. The process is the same, the result is the same - an image recorded for people to enjoy.

Hope you like the new pics.
